And yes, at 53 years of age I am from the previous generation. I have to tell you I know what a skeet feels like. Ideas are flying everywhare AND I LIKE IT. But I'm afraid there is much I don't like. So many people having ideas are running with them like they've collected all the eggs from the Easter Rabbit. Heck, sometimes I think they left the Easter Rabbit as road kill. And sadly there is a lot of truth to that, for we are using our knowledge to kill the fetus at an unprecedented rate. What if they had had a test for Manic-Depression and said "Yeah, let's kill heem doctor!" because he will (ME???) just be a drain on the Economy!!
We justify so many things. We fear introspection although we don't seem to fear killing anyone or any living thing! We justify so much killing in the name of this argument or that. Have you ever wondered WHY?! Well, this morning I awoke in a near-sweat. You see, several days ago my son started talking about the subject of eating meat of animals for food. And I told him that since we are muscle we have to sometimes eat muscle to have it. Wow! That was un great party-line answer eh? How DO WE JUSTIFY killing with this great big cranium-filling brain we tout so much?
{Is it because we all each one have a level of mental disease just like a serial killer or rapist? We get away with it on a small scale, then look around to see who cares. Once we establish that no one cares, we choose a bigger animal to kill. And further then, the serial killer simply progresses to the next rung on the ladder where most of us decide not to go. We grow a conscience. They don't. They choose a literal existence while we cling desperately to the philosophical.}
Firstly, we claim the right to do so because our parent Woodrow Neanderthal the 1st did it. The human being likes the taste of meat, so we both accept that action and satisfy that desire by claiming our RIGHT TO KILL. After all, killing got us to where we are today. Secondly, we conjure up in our head that animals don't really know that they are alive... they have no conscious since their brain is too small to have space for one. Never mind that our scientists continually tell us in mock humility they don't know what the mind is... much less how it works. Thirdly, we easily brush aside that what we don't want to hear and hear what gets what we want. Like "the smaller an animal is the dumber it is". Never mind that some of mankind's greatest inventors, composers, and even despot dictators have been small men. Which btw totally obliterates the "smaller is dumber" argument. So far I haven't seen composers on the menu. I have mulled this both consciously and sub-consciously in my sleep and awake for 2 or 3 days now. I fail to find justification of what I do to be totally conveyed to me by a Neanderthalian parentally-passed Right of Succession, IT'S-GOOD-TO-BE-THE-KING MENTALITY. A specie's hat size doesn't convey that Right. And if an animal was LIFE SUPPORT STUPID we still wouldn't butcher it for it's meat content.
Is eating the flesh of another once-living animal the best we can do? With my Bio-Home designs and ideas, and a nearby abundance of hydroponically (quickly) produced herbs and vegetable proteins, our health may just surpass the temporary health burst we get from animals... So far, I haven't tried to preach you into submission to accept my ideas. According to Scripture, mankind has been allowed to have animals for food and to have an Earthly King. These were allowances for our imperfect desires, not a way to achieve perfection. To attain perfection, many of these practices will have to be discarded as easily as yesterday's unborn... We may have to actually GROW UP AND FACE THE FACT THAT EATING OTHER MAMMALS IS LIKE EATING FAMILY.
The human mind is a big place. And it's a tricky place. It can be the biggest arcade ever made. So, we have basically two choices. Get lost in the Arcade, or stop at the FunHouse and stare into a mirror. That's called introspection and it can be very revealing. Many people fear introspection and even warn against it. They say it will make you go crazy.
Well, that's a bald-faced lie. I fell from a moving car at 3 1/2 years of age. For several years after that I suffered what is now called PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and finally was diagnosed with a "illness" called Manic-Depression (bi-polar) 13 years ago. Accordingly introspection can't be blamed, for I didn't do much "intro-specting" at 3 years of age! Also accordingly, I have had nothing to fear from introspection. I simply yam what I yam, whether I asked for it or wanted it or not being totally unimportant. A person's WANTS must be subject to what a person IS , and ONLY defined further by what we decide TO BE. And there lies the proverbial "grab".
As we grow, we are taught by others. It has to be that way yet, it is a very slanted process. For those people drop this comment and that that they have -throughout their lives- attempted to define into a belief system that works for them. IF we adopt their definitions without bothering to "self-introspect" the why's & wherefore's that created those definitions, then we aren't a new human being. We are all in danger of simply becoming a mirrored human being that acts by rote, not by thought. As a bipolar person I tend toward deja vu and other paranoid leanings. It is thought that being bipolar is the last step before schizophrenia. Do I believe that? Well, I'm no Jonas Salk but as a matter of fact that is one of the definitions of others that I do not readily accept!
Does that make me -excuse the expression- a "smart ass"? Then how about a "know-it-all"? I don't think so because I readily admit that I do NOT, IN FACT, KNOW EVERYTHING. Certainly haven't got any "Dad o' th' Year" awards either. No, I'm just a human like you & you & you. But, I do believe in introspection of one's life and conclusions. I believe in not letting other's definitions be MY definitions until I've examined theirs from every possible angle. That, my friend, is why I am here and you are there. We're different and we'll always be different. We aren't exclusive little wholes as much as we are a part of the big whole. Our individual needs are always subject to the needs of the whole human race.
So, brother Riley, Why are you telling us this? you may ask. Well, it just so happens that that is the key reason why I was able to figure out that lightning force could be harnessed. I had to FIRST TEAR DOWN THE WALL THAT KEPT ME FROM SEEING THE TRUTH. Someone told me as a child that lightning could never be used and, at that very moment, I knew somehow "inside" that was in error. The God-power that is in all of us told my spirit that everything man can sees is destined to be conquered and used by man. And judging by the recent numbers of Star Trek movie goers, a whole heckuva lot of people are extremely content to believe that! The future is ours. Sooner. Later. But ours.
But 1st and foremost we have to divine what from our previous generation's mindwalls we accept, and which we discard as a waste of time. Is this paranoia? Certainly I do have that verified genetic leaning. Does that retard me?, or does it advance me to the front of the gladiator column?? Each of you will have to decide that!!
