One person can make
a difference

Those good questions posed by Pat Hartsock (May 17 letter to the
editor, "Cheney took the money and ran") point up the flaw that
exists always but sometimes spikes especially high for all to see.
I recently started three Internet money-making ventures, because
I'm still on disability. I weighed my need for personal wealth
against all the kids being left behind, as Hartsock mentioned.
I decided to add a qualifier on my Web pages in which I pledged
not to take out any deductions and pay the full tax on any monies I
make. Can one man make a difference? I think so.
With my Web site, I challenge all those who are on top to give
the remaining rest of Americans a hand up.
I would remind everyone that people overseas watch our TV, and
they see how we wring our hands. Yet, we seek to squeeze every penny
we can out of paying taxes.
Then, our services start to fail, and children do not have
parents around because they're always at work.
The world laughs at us for such incongruities.
