Why Oxygen? Oxygen is one of the basic elements of life. Remember CHON from high school chemistry? Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen and Nitrogen. It is also one of the most abundant element with the earth's crust comprising 49.2% of oxygen by weight, 85% of sea water, 42% of all vegetation and over 62% of the human body.
An oxygen atom, by itself, is very reactive. It oxidizes readily. It has only one electron in its outer orbital shell... so to gain equilibrium balance of two electrons it readily combines with other atoms or molecules. This oxidation is observed on iron as rust. O3 or ozone, comprised of three oxygen atoms, is another form of oxygen that most people are familiar with but is again very reactive. For this reason -the reactivity- the oxygen's ability to combine with molecules of the membranes of bacterias (bang rust th' boogers to death) thus bursting disease germs, that many hospitals use it to disinfect and many European countries use it to sanitize their drinking water (bang bang). Two oxygen atoms combined into an O2 molecule is the most stable form of oxygen.

is the form we breathe into cells, they then able to create energy.

Our body requires tremendous amounts of oxygen, especially under stress or strenuous activity. The average person needs some 3 liters of oxygen per minute while resting and more than 10 liters per minute during strenuous activity. Our brain. Alone it makes up only 2 percent of our total body mass, requiring 20+% of the body's oxygen needs. Oxygen rapidly diffuses through thin lung membranes (air sacs), dissolving into the blood plasma in the capillaries surrounding the air sacs. Although fish can survive on this dissolved oxygen in the blood plasma alone, we can not; we require much more oxygen. This is the revolutionary role of red blood cells; their purpose is to carry tremendous amounts of oxygen to all cells, more so ever than blood plasma. Unfortunately we rarely use the full capacity of our lungs. Breathing rapidly increases oxygen intake very minimally and only to a certain point. In most cities the avail. oxygen content of the air can be very thin because oxygen “locks up with” (BINDS TO) air pollutants from cars, etc., people's lungs then processing airborne crap like filters.

Air is 21% oxygen; in polluted cities it drops easily approaching 11%.
There is a controversy surrounding the claimed health benefits of drinking oxygen saturated water. But the simple fact is our body needs water and it needs large amounts of oxygen. When we drink a cup of water, 100% of the water is quickly absorbed in the small intestines along with the dissolved oxygen in the water. (Abundant internal-surface absorption.)
The primary reason some of the herbal supplements such as gingko biloba are successful in increasing memory and mental sharpness is that it dilates the blood vessels providing more oxygenated blood to the brain. Studies have shown that the only major difference between a healthy middle aged adult and a healthy teenager is in their efficiency of transferring oxygen from the environment to the muscles during strenuous activity. To no ones surprise, the teenage body is more efficient and therefore were able to get more oxygen to their muscles... consequently able to perform better.
We may not look or feel old, but because of the biological difference in oxygen transfer as we age, we can not always fulfill our potential. It is laughable to think oxygen- saturated water will ever change that. It's a scientific fact we absorb water along with oxygen from eating oxygen rich fresh fruit and vegetables through stomach membranes, intestines. Processed food low in oxygen has let the modern Man and his family slide down into a oxygen-reduced pit of a life worthy of dinosaurs.
Oxygen dissolved in water dissipates to regain equilibrium with the surrounding air, unlike carbon dioxide that bubbles profusely as in carbonated sodas. Dr. A. Pakdaman, a cardiovascular surgeon in Germany, found an increase of PO2 pressure (Partial O2 pressure) -ranging approximately 19.5mmHg to 33.8mmHg- 5 minutes after subjects consumed 1/3 litre of oxygen saturated water. You can breathe in oxygen, but also passively absorb additional amounts by drinking it.
