This
invention addresses 3 main barriers to travel
in outer Space.
1)
Bone loss,
2)
Muscle degradation, &
3)
cosmic radiation speeding cancer formation
Firstly to find this solution we need to understand that the problem is not just weightlessness. It is that there is No Resistance to Movement out in Space. Present technology has no resolution of artificial gravity and may not have it for a very long time; however, medical doctors have been using water aerobics to help the elderly maintain a level of fitness. Water molecules get in the way of movement. In Space we need to put something in the astronauts way that makes moving around HARDER. What could that be? It cannot be water. But water is somewhat transparent and transparency is needed for sight. Whatever the choice, weight is not a consideration because it means little out in Space. Density is the relevant factor. Water aerobics works because of its Density, not its Weight. Density, SOMETHING THE ASTRONAUTS CAN SEE THROUGH YET HAVE TO PUSH THEIR WAY THROUGH TO MOVE .<>. Glass beads is the answer. Tiny beads too small to focus on would be both transparent AND mobile. Inside a Space vehicle enough of them would constitute an Emulsion. These weightless beads can be in different concentrations in different rooms. A workout room for men might be filled with more, for smaller Space travelers less, tailored to individual size and desire. Interior Landing Bays would have none while a small ship enters & lands, then be flooded for debarkation from vehicle.
Filters would prevent the breathing of these beads yet allow oxygen to pass. Such a constant exercise lessens or eliminates Nos. 1 & 2 above. #3? It is possible each glass bead could have a tiny speck of radiation-absorbent material inside... in this way cosmic energy could be prevented from harming the astronauts AND actually be harvested ! These beads would be manufactured in Space and left in Space for succeeding ships (far too heavy for Earth entry.).
This
solution to Space travel actually opens the possibility of living in outer
Space.

Stated another way:
The solution to bone loss, muscle degradations in outer space is VERY SIMPLE. Astronauts do not encounter any resistance floating in Space... so they don't get any exercise. There needs to be some kind of restraining force. Filling the inside of the spaceship with tiny beads of glass would make the space traveler do work to move!
The nutshell answer is a Space Aerobic Exercise System using dry glass beads (instead of water) as the filling medium to trudge through.
Of course, the total answer will entail magnetic boots so they can walk around, as well as filters for breathing. Filters would have to stop bead penetration while allowing oxygen to pass. Filters would prevent the beads from entering any body openings including the eyes and ears.
These beads are transparent because of being Glass, yet also invisible to human eyesight from their tiny size (too small to focus). These beads made of glass are non-conducting so they pose no electrical hazard as water would. And no cleanup!
When these beads are manufactured in outer space they will be near-perfect orbs. Tiny specs of radiation-absorbent matter could be added into the beads. This would accomplish 2 things: (1) shielding the astronauts (all space travelers) & (2) serve another purpose of capturing and storing cosmic radiation for study and possibly to use as an additional energy source in space.
An additional benefit would be TO PROTECT THE SHIP.
How? Well, if something hits into the ship exterior the glass bead emulsion would prevent the impact from penetrating the ship sides, or at least not so easily. The glass beads give the ship an interior "pressure" against impacts. Astronauts would still get hurt, unless they had detected the coming collision. In that example scenario they could go to a room that did not have any of the beads, floating weightless til the accident was resolved.
And that friends is the rest of the nutshell.
