Technology and Industry Minister Laszlo Palkovics said late on Wednesday that Hungary plans to extend the life of the Paks nuclear power plant and will conduct a cost and feasibility assessment next month.
Palkovics said the plant "can add 20 years of service" and that his department would draft a proposal to the government by July 15.
Paks currently has four Russian-made VVER 440 small reactors, with a total capacity of about 2,000 MEGAwatts, built between 1982 and 1987.
